Five Tips for Better Sleep

I often get the worst sleep in the dead of winter because my body is restless, even when I feel tired. After trying to pay closer attention to what works for me, I noticed that on the days I worked outside or took a detox bath before getting ready for bed, I had the best sleep! I started implementing both into my daily routine, along with a couple of other tips I’ve picked up along the way. Here are five different strategies I use to get a better night’s sleep instead of taking melatonin or other addicting medications. I included all of the supplies I use as well as downloadable recipes for my magnesium spray and sleepy mocktail below. Sweet dreams!

My Tips for Better Sleep

  1. Outdoor Walks

Any outdoor activity will help release pent-up energy but I also find that it calms the mind, which is the biggest help for me. I prefer a 45-minute walk every day.

2. Ashwagandha Tea

Ashwagandha is more effective for me than chamomile, which is typically what is found in “sleepytime” teas. It really calms me down from the inside out.

3. DIY Magnesium Spray

I spray this on the bottoms of my feet before I go to bed most nights. I make it myself because it is so much cheaper than buying it. You can download a printable recipe here!

4. Sleepy Mocktails

This is new for me but they have been quite effective this winter, especially the cherry one. I do enjoy pure cranberry, too. Download my simple recipe here!

5. Magnesium Baths

Magnesium baths are my last resort if nothing else is working, and they are the most effective in my opinion. I use about half of a large bag and soak for at least 30 minutes.
